The project

Designed for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Ephemeral Grand Palais embodies French excellence in the art of building swiftly, precisely, and sustainably.

Assembled on the Champ-de-Mars, this 10,000 m² structure was entirely conceived to be dismantled and reused, without compromising on aesthetics or structural performance.

Mathis designed and built the glue-laminated timber frame, the load-bearing structures for the interior levels, and the metal frameworks, all within an exceptionally tight schedule and with outstanding attention to detail.

Ephemeral by nature, exemplary by design, this structure proves that temporary architecture can rise to iconic status.

Wood has crafted our story.

It gives form, ignites the imagination, and uncovers meaning. With Mathis, wood takes on a language of its own.
