The project
A rare dimension on an international scale, Mathis designed and built a glue-laminated timber arch overhead structure spanning 90 meters, for an industrial stockyard at a thermal power plant.
Beyond the sheer span, the challenge lay in ensuring the stability of an exceptionally large structure with a very short footprint, controlling long-term deformation, resisting the risk of spontaneous ignition of bulk coal, and managing on-site assembly with local teams who needed training and coordination.
The operation required advanced engineering, millimeter-accurate pre-assembly in the workshop, and exceptional, carefully sequenced logistics to guarantee precise installation several thousand kilometers from the factory.
This project fully demonstrates Mathis’s ability to deploy timber solutions of exceptional scale, even in demanding industrial environments and complex international contexts.
