The project

At the Ruwais petrochemical site in the United Arab Emirates, Mathis designed a 500-meter-long timber structure dedicated to the storage of solid sulfur. Built using glue-laminated timber, the 70-meter-span arch was entirely prefabricated and assembled on site.

Here, the choice of wood is not an aesthetic one but a technical solution as it is resistant to sulfur corrosion, stable under extreme temperature variations, and exceptionally durable over time.

The project stands as a testament to the intelligence of wood applied to industry, elevated by Mathis’s structural expertise.

Wood has crafted our story.

It gives form, ignites the imagination, and uncovers meaning. With Mathis, wood takes on a language of its own.
