The project
In Annaba, on Algeria’s Mediterranean coast, Mathis designed and built the glue-laminated timber roof covering the stands of a major sports complex. The structure is defined by a 25-meter cantilever that fully exploits the structural potential of wood, providing unobstructed views and natural light without the need for frontal supports.
Entirely prefabricated in France and assembled on-site by a Mathis team, the framework was engineered to ensure precision, safety, and rapid installation in an environment subject to significant climatic constraints. Careful attention to timber selection, joint protection, and deformation control ensures the structure’s long-term stability and durability.
